Broadway Tonight
What we collect, where it lives, and how to have it deleted — in plain language.
The short version
Broadway Tonight stores what you put into it — your diary entries, your profile, and who your friends are — so it can show them back to you. There are no ads, no analytics, no trackers, and nothing is ever sold or shared for marketing.
What we collect
When you sign in with Google or Apple we receive your name, email address, and profile picture. If you use Apple's “Hide My Email”, we only ever see the relay address Apple generates, and that is what your account is keyed to.
If you set up a profile we store your username, display name, avatar, bio, and friend code. Diary entries hold whatever you enter: the show, theater, date, time, seat, rating, review, private notes, and any photos you attach. We also store which people you are friends with.
If you send feedback from inside the app, we receive your message along with your name and email so we can reply.
What never leaves your device
Your watchlist, hidden shows, seen list, show tags, and display preferences are kept in your browser's local storage on that device only. They are never uploaded, so they do not sync between devices — and we cannot see them.
Where it's stored
Account, profile, diary, and friend data live in a PostgreSQL database. Photos and avatars are stored in Amazon S3 in the us-east-1 region. Both are located in the United States.
Who can see your diary
Only you, and any friend you have accepted. Marking an entry private hides it from friends entirely; marking just the review private hides the review text and photos while still showing that you saw the show. Profile pages are not viewable while signed out, and are only shown to accepted friends.
One technical caveat worth stating plainly: photo files themselves are served from direct links that are not access-controlled. The links are long and unguessable and are never listed or indexed, but anyone you send one to can open it without signing in.
Who else sees your data
Showtimes come from Ticketmaster and closing dates from Playbill. We only read from them — they receive nothing about you.
When you use “Scan ticket”, the photo of your ticket is sent to Anthropic's API to read the text off it. When you create a playlist, we act on your YouTube account using the permission you grant at that moment. In-app feedback is copied into a private issue tracker on GitHub, including your name and email.
Beyond those, we do not share your information with anyone. We do not sell it, we do not use it for advertising, and there are no third-party analytics or tracking tools in the app.
Deleting your account and data
Email us from the address you signed in with and we will delete your account, profile, diary entries, uploaded photos, and friend connections within 30 days. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
To clear the data held on your device, sign out — that removes your watchlist, hidden shows, seen list, and tags from that device's local storage.
Children
Broadway Tonight is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect or who we share it with, we will update this page and change the date below. Continued use after a change means the updated policy applies.
Questions about your data?
Ask us anything about what we hold, or request a deletion — a person will answer.
